The School of Foreign Languages, Central South University, is currently searching for native English language teachers and international experts for English as a Foreign Language (EFL) education and English program at undergraduate level. Our BA English program draws strength from four disciplines: translation and interpreting, linguistics, literature, and applied English studies with a purpose to cultivate effective communicators equipped with interdisciplinary knowledge and transferrable ability in international settings. We welcome TESOL/TEFL/CELTA certificate holders and experts in the afore-mentioned disciplines to join our faculty.
Job description:
As a native English language teacher, you will play a crucial role in developing the language proficiency and cultural awareness of our undergraduate students. Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering engaging and interactive English language courses to undergraduate students, focusing on language skills development, oral communication, and critical thinking.
- Designing and implementing effective teaching strategies, materials, and assessments to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Contributing to curriculum development, including the improvement of courses and ensuring of the practice programs’ alignment with international standards.
As an international expert, your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering courses to undergraduate students, focusing on intercultural communication, rhetoric and writing, and comparative literary studies.
- Providing guidance and support to students in their language learning journey and developing their international perspective;
- Conducting research and staying updated with the latest developments in the field of translation studies, linguistics, literature, and intercultural communication.
- Participating in academic activities, such as conferences, workshops, and seminars, to enhance professional development and contribute to the academic community.
Qualifications:
Candidates should possess the following qualifications:
- A native English speaker with a strong command of the English language. Relevant teaching experience in EFL/ESL at the undergraduate level is preferred.
- A minimum of a Master’s degree in English Language Teaching, Translation Studies, Linguistics, Literature, or a related field. A Ph.D. is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to employ innovative teaching methods and technologies to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.
- Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills, with a commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment.
- A record of research publications and/or conference presentations in the field of English language teaching, translation studies, linguistics, or literature is highly desirable.
- Fluency in Mandarin Chinese is not required but considered an asset.
