Taking the three developmental stages of World Literature (1953–1966) as a case study, this lecture traces the trajectory of foreign literature translation in China during the 1950s and 1960s. It examines how China continuously positioned its nation-state identity based on national interests. Through this interconnected analysis, the lecture further explores the theories, principles, and methodologies relevant to research on contemporary Chinese translation history and literary translation journals.
