On the afternoon of March 27, 2026, School of Foreign Languages (SFL) Party Secretary Li Tao led a delegation to Changsha Linglu Xiangjun Foreign Language High School. Principal Liu Geng, an outstanding SFL alumnus and standing committee member of the SFL Alumni Association, welcomed the visitors. The visit aimed to strengthen alumni engagement, foster exchanges between the school and alumni-affiliated institutions, and jointly advance the development of future foreign language talent.

The delegation included Hou Heyu, Party Committee member and Vice Dean; Zhou Wenjun, Secretary of the Fourth Faculty Party Branch and Deputy Secretary-General of the Alumni Association; and Chen Jimin, Secretary of the Sixth Faculty Party Branch and Deputy Secretary-General of the Alumni Association. The two sides exchanged views on foreign-language-focused education, school-to-university articulation, and integrating ideological and political education into the curriculum, exploring new avenues for collaboration.

Accompanied by Liu Geng, the delegation saw firsthand the school’s achievements in foreign language education and campus culture development, and gained insight into its holistic approach to education, including multicultural exchanges and foreign language talent cultivation.

At the meeting, Liu warmly welcomed the delegation from his alma mater. He outlined the high school’s history, educational mission, foreign language development strategy, and the framework for its “Foreign Language +” integrated curriculum. He emphasized the importance of early talent development, teacher professional growth, and international exchanges, and expressed strong interest in deepening cooperation in teacher training, curriculum development, and the cultivation of innovative talent.

On behalf of SFL and its Alumni Association, Li Tao presented Liu Geng with gifts including a four-volume novel, Wang Chuanshan, by renowned professor Nie Mao; a three-volume Chinese translation of The Lord of the Rings by senior translator Lu Danjun; and the Nursing Culture Series from Xiangya Hospital.

Li Tao praised the high school’s advanced educational philosophy, clear development strategy, and forward-looking planning. He noted that high schools are a critical starting point for developing foreign language talent, and that school-university collaboration is vital for nurturing well-rounded professionals. He reaffirmed SFL’s commitment to supporting Linglu Xiangjun Foreign Language High School and proposed five areas for future cooperation.

First, collaborate on curriculum-based ideological and political education, sharing high-quality case studies, teaching resources, and expertise from SFL. Second, align cutting-edge teaching philosophies, research methodologies, and academic resources with the high school’s needs to help it build a distinctive foreign language education brand. Third, establish a teacher training and exchange platform with a regular mechanism for faculty interaction and resource sharing. Fourth, create opportunities for student campus visits and study tours to help them experience university culture and deepen their understanding of higher education. Fifth, leverage SFL’s international exchange resources to build a platform for global engagement, including exchange visits between Chinese and foreign teachers and students, online language exchanges, and international cultural programs.

The visit deepened mutual understanding and demonstrated SFL’s commitment to alumni engagement, setting an example for future Alumni Association initiatives.
