April 10, 2025
The School of Foreign Languages convened its annual Graduate Supervisor Meeting on the afternoon of April 9, 2025, in Conference Room 332. Associate Dean Zhong Wenming chaired the session, attended by Deputy Party Secretary Sun Sheng, all graduate supervisors, and academic administrators.
Zhong Wenming opened by reviewing recent advances in the School’s graduate programs and thanking supervisors for their contributions. He then outlined China's Academic Degrees Law and relevant university policies, detailing degree-awarding procedures, academic assessment protocols, and quality assurance measures. Zhong presented revisions to the 2025 graduate training programs, explaining the rationale behind key changes and their implementation timeline. He stressed that updated curricula should integrate digital innovation and embed ethical reasoning throughout coursework. Zhong emphasized that supervisors serve as the primary architects of graduate education, forming partnerships with students in shared academic growth. He urged faculty to guide students' moral development, strengthen their research training, and support their daily lives, ultimately elevating the overall caliber of graduate education.
Guo Wei, Director of the Master of Translation and Interpreting Center, reported on program assessment and continuous improvement efforts. She recommended optimizing supervisory resources, fostering greater collaboration, and encouraging more full-time faculty to engage with the School’s 24 internship sites to enhance professional training opportunities.
Administrator Zhang Chenguang presented feedback from graduate oversight, noting that student training documentation requires refinement and thesis formatting needs greater standardization.
Finally, Sun Sheng outlined priorities for the coming year: strengthening supervisors' roles in moral education, ensuring student safety and well-being, and implementing targeted initiatives to enhance graduate employability.
The meeting established guidelines for future graduate education initiatives, reinforced the supervisory team, and renewed the School’s commitment to graduate education excellence.
