School of Foreign Languages Students Sweep Top Honors at 12th Hunan Provincial Postgraduate Translation Contest

November 27, 2025

On November 22, the 12th Hunan Translation Contest for Postgraduates concluded successfully at Central South University. The contest is a measure to thoroughly implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee under the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Culture to instruct international communication. It also stands as a key initiative in Hunan Province to cultivate specialized talents for international communication in the new era. Organized by the Hunan Provincial Department of Education and hosted by Central South University, the contest brought together 174 postgraduates from 19 universities across the province, setting new records in both participating universities and contestants. Our students delivered outstanding performances, securing five first prizes, two second prizes, and three third prizes. Notably, our students swept the top three spots in the interpretation contest, achieving the best result in the contest’s history.

CSU actively organized an internal selection competition, in which nearly 100 students from different disciplines such as foreign languages, medicine, law, finance, journalism and communication, energy and power engineering, and education participated. Ten contestants were selected to represent the university to compete with others.

Contestants from Central South University with Their Tutors

In recent years, CSU has reformed its translation programs by blending competitive learning with real-world projects. These methods have strengthened student performance in practical language use and international communication—gains reflected in this contest's results.
