Foreign Languages and Translation (quarterly), founded in 1994, is sponsored by the School of Foreign Languages at Central South University. It is an academic journal intended for faculty and students at tertiary institutions, as well as for translation professionals. The journal places a strong emphasis on scholarly rigor and features sections such as Translation Studies, Linguistic Studies, Foreign Language Education, and Foreign Literature Studies.

The journal, whose title was inscribed by Prof. Ji Xianlin, has Prof. Wang Kefei as its contributing editor and reviewer, and regularly publishes papers by renowned scholars all over China, such as Liu Miqing, Hu Zhuanglin, Fang Mengzhi, Zhang Boran, Xiong Xueliang, Cheung Pui Yiu (Martha Cheung), Shan Te-hsing, Huang Guobin (Laurence Kwok Pun Wong), and Jiang Xiaohua. The journal commands considerable influence in the academic community as it is recognized as a core periodical for academic publication by “Double First-Class” universities in multiple cities including Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou.
